Seriously, what kind of crap was that? I really don’t know who to blame for this one? Let’s see…

  1. Armando Benitez, for giving up two home runs and not being able to throw any strikes.
  2. Brian Tallet, for giving up one home run and not being able to throw any strikes.
  3. John Gibbons, for removing a totally in control Shaun Marcum, who was able to throw strikes. But this wasn’t his fault. Marcum had thrown a lot of pitches, and Tallet has been good out of the bullpen. Benitez has pitched 5 innings. Yes, 5 innings and somehow that means he belongs in high leverage situations.
  4. Rod Black, the commentator. He’s so annoying it’s unbelievable. I enjoy listening to Jamie Campbell on Sportsnet, because he doesn’t sound like a broken record. Any game on TSN must be viewed on mute. Even after the damage was done, he couldn’t shut up about how the Jays had it in the bag and they couldn’t close it out. Yes, I know. I’ve been watching it.
  5. The Jays are still hitting like a paper bag full of dog shit with runners in scoring position. Black (or Tabler) said that Gibbons pointed to their performance with RISP as the big problem for the Jays. But you don’t need to see any of those stats. All you needed to see was runners on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out, and 3 straight hitters get nothing. A single would have done it. But no. Three weak ground outs. It’s a miracle they got one. Notice I said paper bag full of dog shit. I’m being very generous here; I did not skimp on the shit.

At least there was a really good brawl between the Red Sox and the Rays. It was hilarious, so that salvaged my night.
